MINI TREX
This 3 day mini trek will visit the Puuc region of the Yucatan over a long weekend. The Puuc region has some of the most beautiful temples and palaces ever built by the Maya, often referred to as "Maya Baroque" architecture. Dr. Barnhart will be your guide as he explains the art, architecture, geometry and astronomy behind this wonderful and seldom visited region. Participants will fly in and out of Merida, Yucatan and spend 2 days in the Puuc region visiting the sites of Kabah, Labna, Sayil and Uxmal. On the way back to Merida, the tour will stop into Muna and the workshop of Patricia Martin, Yucatan's most talented ceramic artist. Patricia will give a presentation of how she paints her amazing reproductions of ancient Maya ceramics and share her latest works from her humble storefront. A final dinner in Merida will cap off the trip before sunday morning flights back home.
The guide for this tour will be Dr. Edwin Barnhart
