Ancestral Pueblo Ruins Travel Course
A travel course led by Dr. Michael Grofe

This week-long educational adventure will bring participants through the ancient American Southwest to learn about the ancestors of the Pueblo people and their modern descendants. Taking a wide loop through three states (New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado), the course will begin and end in Albuquerque. Dr. Grofe will lead the group through modern pueblos and ancient ruins while leading discussions on Pueblo culture, traditions and heritage. Evening lectures will compliment the day tours. The course will culminate with a dawn visit to Chaco Canyon for the summer solstice sunrise at Casa Rinconada and an all day tour of the canyon's amazing ruins. A final morning back in Albuquerque will be spent visiting the New Mexico Natural History and Science Musuem, where an interactive exhibit on the archaeoastronomy of Fajada Butte in Chaco Canyon is permenantly installed.
