Ancient Maya Art and Culture - Palenque to Tikal
A travel course for the students of Professor Elizabeth Kiddy - Albright College

Venturing back and forth between Mexico and Guatemala, students attending this nine day travel course will explore a variety of ruins, rain forests, and modern Maya communities. Through a combination site tours and evening lectures, participants will learn the keys to interpeting Ancient Maya art. With a basic understanding in place, the history, culture, and religion of Ancient Maya civilization will come sharply into focus. The course will begin and end in Villahermosa, Mexico.

March 12, Friday: Arrival
Students fly into Villahermosa and meet MEC staff at the airport. That evening, they'll stay in Villahermosa and get ready for the first big day.

Afternoon: Return to Palenque
