Castles and Holy Shrines of Scotland Travel Course
Course Instructor/Leader - Dr. Margaret Wade

This week-long educational excursion will bring participants through Southern Scotland to learn about its ancient past and modern descendants. Taking a wide loop from coast to coast, the course will begin and end in Edinburgh. Dr. Wade will lead the group through holy shrines, ancient castles, remote islands and tradtional festivals, explaining their significance along the way. The last days of the course will be spent in St. Andrews, the birth place of golf. The last evening back in Edinburgh will feature a final dinner together and course closing ceremonies.

9-12pm: Ferry tour to Staffa, Fingal's Cave and Puffins

1-4pm: Tour of Iona
4-5pm: Return to Oban

8-11am: Transport to St. Andrews - stop to see highland cattle in Callander

Proceeds from MEC Travel courses and tours are the center's primary source of research funding. As such, a portion of the tour costs are tax deductible. MEC will provide participants with receipts and proper documentation regarding the center's 501(c)(3) non-profit status for your records.
