About Us
In The News
From time to time, MEC makes the news. Staff and associate papers and articles may be published or reprinted. Or, perhaps a television station has taken in interest. Whatever the case, you can find updated MEC news information here.
Living Maya In April 2008 the Austin Chronicle published a story on the state of Maya studies in Austin, Texas. The article's focus was the legacy of Dr. Linda Schele and the success of the annual Texas Maya Meetings which she started over 20 years ago. Dr. David Stuart, who inherited Schele's position at the University of Texas, and MEC's Director Dr. Ed Barnhart were interviewed for the piece. The article is available online at the Austin Chronicle's website: Read the article.
Junglecasts: In March 2005, Nicco Mele went to Chiapas, Mexico with Dave Pentecost to explore the region, and spend some time with archaeologists working on discovering more about the Maya culture. Their first JungleCast (a Podcast from the Jungle!), and the subsequent JungleCasts are available on EchoRadio.
